Due to a Leader Shortage, the Beaver Section is currently closed to new admissions. Please visit to find details of your nearest group with spaces in Beavers. We hope to re-open this section soon. If you, or anyone you know wants to become a leader please read on for details about what the section does and how to get involved.

Who are we?

Beaver Scouts is the first section in the Scout Family with girls and boys people aged between six and eight years old. We meet every Tuesday during term time, in The Well, at St. James Church between 5.45pm and 6.45pm. Beavers can be easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts. Like all the other sections in the group we wear a red scarf.

What do we do?

Beaver Scouts do lots during their program such as; making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. For more information on what Beavers do visit

Want to Join, more questions?

If you have any questions or you’d like your son or daughter to join our Beaver colony, then please visit our Join Us page. There is some flexibility in the age groups so young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday, if you’re nearly 8 then Cubs may be better.
If you don’t live around the Clerkenwell, Finsbury or Islington areas, you’re still more than welcome to join, but there may be a Beaver Colony nearer. Visit to be put in touch with your local groups.

Want to help out?

We’re also always on the look out for people to help out with the group. If you fancy being a leader or regular volunteer visit the Volunteering page for more details. If you want to help more informally, come along to teach a skill, give us an idea for an evening or anything else then please E-mail us.
